Crescendo
Every ESO concert is presented in support of a local charity. The charity is chosen annually from a list suggested by the players. You will find the name of the charity displayed on all ESO posters and programmes and on this website. Our chosen charity for the 2025-26 season is Marie Curie.

“The Marie Curie nurses of Chelmsford and Essex
Marie Curie charity provides end of life nursing care for patients and their families who have been given a terminal diagnosis. Although originally set up to help those given this diagnosis as a result of cancer, we now offer our services to any patient given a terminal diagnosis irrespective of the medical condition.
Many people who are given a terminal diagnosis would prefer to spend this part of their life in their own home as opposed to a hospital or hospice, but it is often very difficult for the family to provide the 24-hour care often needed at this time. That is where the fully trained nurses of Marie Curie can help, arriving about10pm to provide nursing care overnight allowing the family to have their rest and sleep, ready to take over the care again the next morning.
This nursing care is provided free of charge to the patient and family so this is why the Chelmsford Fundraising Group of Marie Curie, and the many volunteer supporters, can be seen collecting in Chelmsford City Centre or local supermarkets and at events arranged by local groups to raise money for the charity. The money raised is used to provide this Invaluable nursing care for patients and families in the Chelmsford and Essex area.
Marie Curie also has a support helpline service for anyone who is or has been affected by terminal illness.”
